Dear friends,

The annual Matric Fair is fast approaching and it is an essential platform for NUSSU SAVE to attract as many potential members as possible. This year, fortunately, we have been allocated a booth in a strategic position. However, even with a favourable booth location, volunteers helping to man the booth are critical for the matric fair to be a success. Hence, we sincerely appeal to you guys to volunteer as helpers and do your part for SAVE.

The following are some of the information that might be important for volunteers:

1. Volunteers will only be required to help out for at least ONE SESSION (Either Am or Pm). For each session, volunteers will be working in pairs and the working hours are from 0830 to 1800 (excluding setting up and packing up) divided into 2 parts:

AM: 0830 – 1300

OR

PM:1300-1800

Volunteers are advised to report 15min earlier to stock-check items at our booth.

2. Dates where volunteers are required are on the

20th July: Decoration Day (1pm – 5pm)

OR

21, 22 and 25 of July: Matriculation Days

3. Responsibilities of volunteer include the daily setting up and packing up of booth as well as introducing SAVE to the freshies and getting them to sign up at the booth.

Simple scripts will be provided as a guide for volunteers who might not know all the activities of SAVE very well.

4. There will be a COMPULSORY meeting on 16th July from 1500-1700 at NUS to brief volunteers on more details on the matric fair.

Interested members please do sign up on the following google spreadsheet indicating all the session and day on which you are willing to help out.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dHpXbFZvUkhLWktRWjlUWGhNZWU4d3c6MQ#gid=0

This is so as to facilitate us in slotting the appropriate amount of helpers to each booth.

Members of the Yew Tee Recycling team had gathered at School of Design and Environment (SDE) LT 422 to attend the Yew Tee Recycling Feedback Dialogue Session. The event was chaired by Dr Peck Thian Guan, whom he gave an overview about the programme and explained why SAVE is different from other CCAs in terms of not only gaining knowledge on climate change issues, but also the soft skills learnt.

The main committee of Yew Tee Recycling Programme Survey had also presented on the progress; rated the success level of the survey and highlighted future changes on the survey forms. We are proud to say that there is an overall increase in recycling rate in Yew Tee Residential Committees (RCs) 4 and 8 since the survey had started. A two-way feedback session, whereby members got a chance to voice out their opinions about the survey was also conducted. Finally, Mr Marcus Tay from the Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) wrapped the session up.

We hope that everyone who had come down for that session will benefit from it, and hope that they will continue to support Yew Tee Recycling Programme. The next household survey will be scheduled on the Saturdays of 26 Feb and 1 Apr 2011.
