Zer0Waste
Launched on the opening ceremony of SAVE’s Green Carnival 2008, Zer0waste aims to improve the overall recycling infrastructure and promote recycling and waste minimization efforts within NUS.
According to a study done by Campus Sustainability Committee, it was found that NUS students and staff were disposing incorrect types of recyclables into recycling bins due to a lack of awareness and knowledge about recyclables. Examples include presence of paper food wrappers in paper recycling bins, and plastic disposable cups in plastic recycling bins. Contaminated recycling bins were an often sight.
Zer0waste was launched to correct this behaviour, and aims to bring the recycling culture to NUS.
